Luxury hotels in Turin
While it is true that there is
a shortage of luxury hotels in Turin, the situation has improved slightly
over the last few years.
Until recently there was not a
single hotel in the 5-star category - the only rating that we would consider
to offer true luxury - but with the massive improvements resulting from
the 2006 Winter Olympics there are now three luxury hotels to choose
from in Turin.
If you're in Turin for pleasure then it makes sense for
you to be as close to the sights in the centre of town as possible. The
Golden Palace (Via dell'Arcivescovado, 18) is ideally placed
for the luxury tourist and is just a few minutes walk away from Piazza
Castello, Via Roma and Via Po.

Turin's main conference centre, the Lingotto Centre,
is located outside the city centre, south of Parco de Valentino
and therefore requires transport if you're staying in the centre.
The Lingotto Centre was originally built as a Fiat
factory in the 1920s and even has a test track built on the roof. You
can see the track in the original version of The Italian Job,
when the three Mini Coopers are being pursued by the Italian Police.
The building was completely refurbished in the 1990s to bring it up to
the standards required for a modern conference centre.
Adjacent to the Lingotto Centre is Turin's original 5-star
hotel, Le Meridien Art+Tech, while its 4-star sister, Le Meridien
Lingotto is housed in the Lingotto Centre itself. The other 5-star
hotel in the area is the AC Torino also in a converted factory.
