Turin airport

Your first view of Turin airport is likely to be from the bus that transports you to the baggage collection area, and just like any other baggage collection area in the world it consists of rows of conveyor belts, and people waiting anxiously for them to start.

Turin airportSo they wait and wait and then the conveyor starts, everyone hoping against all odds that theirs will be the first case to arrive. And still people wait with the conveyor going round until those first sporadic pieces of baggage emerge to the world.

Turin Airport (officially known as Torino Caselle airport) was built for the 2006 Winter Olympics and offers modern facilities including food and snacks, various shops (including an official Juventus store), as well as bookshops and music.

The facilities are a little limited however - once you've in the departure lounge there are just two places to buy food.

Be wary of the soft drink machines!

We paid €1.50 for a Coke from the machine on the first floor next to the check-in desks and departures.

First of all nothing came out until we "investigated" the machine a bit more thoroughly. The can that eventually emerged was 150 ml and leaking its content all over the place, so went straight in the bin.

Car rental facilities are available when you arrive and the airport also offers facilities such as a VIP lounge, toddlers play area and banking facilities and the seats are perhaps the most comfortable of any airport we've ever used.
