Porta Nuova
Porta Nuova is Turin's main train station and dates
from the 1860s. Designed by Alessandro Mazzucchetti it was modelled on
King’s Cross in London and consisted of an arrivals hall and a departures
hall separted by a hall with a semicircular roof.
The early 20th century saw many changes to the station
and the interior has since been completely restructured, although the
façade remains.

You may find yourself close to Porta Nuova station
when you visit Turin as many of the city's hotels are located in the
vicinity, but it is within easy distance of Via Roma and from
there to the centre.

Porta
Nuova has a small tourist information office located close to the
platforms where you can pick up a free city map - extremely useful -
buy the Torino Card or enquire
about any other information you may require. The staff there is friendly
and very helpful.
Tips
on using the train
- Buy your ticket before boarding - you'll be fined for travelling
without a ticket.
- Always have the ticket stamped before entering the platform -
insert it in a machine like the one shown on the right.
